*Test*.java:
Used TestCaseUtils.findFreePort() instead of TestCaseUtils.bindFreePort().
Used StaticUtils.close().

Various refactorings:
- Extracted a few simple methods
- Comments to javadocs
- Removed dead code
- Inlined unnecessary local variables
